"A worthless person, a wicked man, goes about with crooked speech,
winks with his eyes, speaks with his feet, makes signals with his
fingers, with perverted heart devises evil, continually sowing
discord; therefore calamity will come upon him suddenly; in a
moment he will be broken beyond healing.
"There are six things which the Lord hates, seven which are an
abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that
shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that
make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies,
and a man who sows discord among brothers." Proverbs 6:12-19
"But understand this, that in the last days there will come dangerous
times. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud,
arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal,
not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers
of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of
godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people." 2 Timothy 3:1-5
"For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts,
fornication, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit,
licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil
things come from within, and they defile a man." Mark 7:21-23
"If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are
above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your
minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For
you have died, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ
who is our life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
"Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: fornication, impurity,
passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account
of these the wrath of God is coming. In these you once walked, when you
lived in them. But now you must also put away: anger, wrath, malice, slander,
and foul talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that
you have put off the old nature with its practices and have put on the
new nature, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its
creator. Here there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised,
barbarian, Scythian, slave, free man, but Christ is all, and in all.
"Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness,
lowliness, meekness, and patience, forbearing one another and, if one has
a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven
you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds
everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in
your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in
all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness
in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything
in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:1-17
